I have been working with fabric and making art quilts for about 9 years now. I have had my quilts in nearby galleries and have won awards. In 2010 I had a quilt in a special exhibit in the IQA shows. The exhibit was called "Out on a Limb". I have a passion for quilting and teaching others to quilt. I am a teacher for Bigfork Bay Cotton Co. and I teach some of my own patterns. Bigfork Bay Cotton Co Class

My Bigfork Bay Cotton Co. class will be Feb. 25 at 9:30 am.. to 3:30 pm.. I will provide the patterns. Or you can buy it at a local shop which carries them. I suggest starting with a simply pattern like Three Wise Guys, Cliff Dwellers patterns but you can pick any pattern that you want. I will need to know a by February 3rd what pattern you choose. If you are interested in the Aurifil thread kit that goes with the pattern that would be extra and you can see those on the website. Let me know if you want a thread kit when you send me your choice for your pattern. Please send $10 to reserve a spot in the class asap because I will have a limit of 8 for the class. Workshops

Fun with fusing workshop.
You will take my daisy pattern and I will walk you through the steps to making her come alive. Students will have to purchase the pattern. ( beginner to advance) And I am now working on a Dog named Dexter. He will be ready in 2013.

Bigfork Bay Cotton Co. workshop.
This is an all day workshop. Each student will purchase a BFBCC pattern (fabric kits are also available) and I will go step by step with them putting it together. This is a lot of one on one with the teacher and the student. You may pick any pattern that you want from BFBCC. There may be some tracing before the class so that we can get right to the cutting and making the pattern come alive.
(beginner to advance)

Thread Sketching
This is a 3 hour workshop. Working on using free motion to embellish part of a quilt with thread. I like to use fabrics with flowers and embellish them. I also show how to add beads to the flowers after they are thread painted.
( should have some free motion quilting experience)

Fun With Fusing

I have a powerpoint presentation where i will instruct you on using different fusibles and take you through my technique for fusing my Daisy pattern, which is the same technique for many fusible patterns including Bigfork Bay Cotton Co. I bring a history of my quilts. Starting from my very first Traditional quilt. And my very first art quilt. A trunk show of Bigfork Bay Cotton Co. quilts. I talk a little about challenges and will show my quilts I have made for challenges. Samples of various fusibles will be shown.

Bigfork Bay Cotton Co. Quilts and Aurifil Thread

I have a powerpoint presentation where I talk about Bigfork Bay and show the technique used to make the beautiful quilts. I always tell people that they are like potato chips, you can't do just one.. These quilt patterns are a great jumping off point for traditional quilters to try art quilts. These quilts are for the wall and there are so many things you can do with the patterns. I will share those things with you also. A trunk show of Bigfork Bay quilts to follow.

Thread Sketching and Embellishing

In this lecture I will tell you and show you how to embellish your quilts with threads. If you have a flower and you want it to pop more you can add some thread sketching. I will talk a bit about threads, and different ways to use thread sketching. I will demonstrate on my machine how to thread sketch. I will also bring some samples and some quilts in which I have used thread sketching. I will also show you how to add some beads to your quilt ( for flower middles) and other embellishments.

The Tale of Two Sisters , One Wild and One Crazy

(2013 Spring ) will be available.

My sister and I tell the story of how we started our artistic journey. Starting with Rubber Stamps and ending with Fabric. She is a Crazy Quilter and will tell you her story and show you her beautiful work.
I like making Art quilts (and I am the Wild one of the two of us) and I will bring my story and my quilts.
